Caldwell Academy

DDS recored a 3-2 victory over 3A Caldwell Academy.  The Patriots gave up two goals early in the game and just seems to hang around until the half.  We made some adjustments at the halftime that immediately neutralized just about any threat they had.  Dylan Binley had the first goal of the second half on a cross from Carter Laatsch.  Mark Breunig scored off a corner kick, after a failed clearance by Caldwell, Mark didn’t give up on the play and slid the ball past the goalie and defenders.  Dylan had the go head goal with four minutes remaining.  Mark played the ball over the back line where Dylan ran by and had the one time shot by the keeper.  Overall, it was an incredible game.  Our team just seemed to hang around and value the ball the second half.  Goalie Tom Li had some outstanding saves, (and perhaps his best game of the season),  throughout the game, that frankly kept us in it.  Ben McMullen had a great game as well, eliminating their speed from the outside.  Daxton did a great job providing help through the middle of the field, clearly emptying the tank.  Jake Breunig did a great job sliding over to play center back and keeping the threat away from our goal.  

 

Man of the Match- Ben McMullen.  He had his best game of the season, staying home in his channel, and completely took away the element of speed by their high players.  Tom Li.  This guy had so many big saves that allowed us to claw our way back into the game, not worrying about our defense.
