Guiding Students to A College of Best Fit

The growth and development of each Davidson Day student culminates in the college search. The goal of the College Counseling office is to assist and empower students so they are prepared to choose the right college of best fit and successfully move through the next phase of their educational journey. Staffed by two experienced college counselors, our approach is individualized and student-centered.
Our College Counselors assist in all aspects of the college planning process, including, but not limited to, the research and creation of a balanced list of colleges, planning for standardized tests, application essay writing, navigating the financial aid process, career planning and factors to consider when making that important final decision.
In addition to extensive one-on-one counseling, the college counseling office also plans special events throughout the year that include:
  • Summer Senior Boot Camp
  • Senior College Night
  • Weekly College Seminars for Juniors and Seniors
  • Junior Class College Campus Visits
  • Sophomore Class College Campus Visits
  • Financial Aid Night
  • Fall Senior Application Workshop
  • Junior College Night
  • Freshman and Sophomore College Night
  • Admission Case Studies
  • Advisory Activities
Our college counselors work hard to maintain relationships with admission counselors throughout the country. They frequently visit college campuses to learn about the culture, curriculum, and admission policies. In turn, they also welcome a lengthy roster of admission representatives to Davidson Day School each fall to meet and speak directly with our upper school students. Both counselors are active in professional college admission organizations and often present at national conferences.

The college search process truly is a journey of self-discovery, and our counselors look forward to partnering with each Davidson Day family on that journey!
