Belonging

Statement of Belonging

Davidson Day School is committed to maintaining a welcoming, supportive learning environment that values belonging. We respect individual differences in ethnicity, gender, national origin, race, color, religion, sexual orientation, ability, and socioeconomic status.

Collaborative, inclusive, and diverse communities are essential to helping students appreciate differences, become ethical citizens, and develop as leaders for positive change.

Belonging and Inclusion Advisory Committee

Davidson Day’s Belonging and Inclusion Advisory Committee is a committee of school administrators, faculty, staff, and Upper School students that meets monthly to implement diversity and inclusion initiatives, develop plans of action to address the school’s goals found within the strategic plan, and work to cultivate belonging within the school community. The group has organized a variety of professional development opportunities for faculty and staff to support students each year, guided the development of the school’s Statement of Belonging, and is committed to continuing to ensure students feel a sense of belonging within the school.

Student Diversity Council

Developed by students, the Student Diversity Council started monthly diversity forums in 2020-2021.
Davidson Day School is an independent private school for students 2 years old through 12th grade in the Lake Norman region of Charlotte.
