The Patriots earned a win against WCCS, 3-0.  DDS seemed to dominate possession but just couldn’t find the goal for most of the first half.  Mark Breunig scored his first goal of the season with a beautiful header on a corner served up by Carter Laatsch.  The second half was marked with even more possession by DDS and a few more missed opportunities- two more guys missed the crossbar (according to one of their parents, a goal should have been counted :) ).  Carter scored the second goal of the game with a free kick the sailed over the goalie and bent into the goal.  The final goal of the game came when WCCS couldn’t clear the ball after numerous shots by DDS, Carter put it away after a bad redirect from the goalie.

Man of the Match- Carter had two goals that really put the game out of reach and completed deflated the other team.  It completely changed the tone of the game.  Caleb Tate… much like the offensive line in football, when he does his job you don’t really notice he’s there.  But as a guy that cut his teeth playing center back and watching him play, yep, he’s just so good.  His job not only involves winning the ball, but also being responsible for all the other defenders. I cannot ignore that that back line neutralized just about everything their front line threw our way.  Their best opportunity came from a frustration shot from 45 yards out and a nice header from a corner kick.  Other than than, they were nonexistent.

Other Roses- It was the first game that we really got a chance to have everyone play a decent amount of minutes.  There were a few guys that really stood out.  Cooper Ferguson, came on and emptied the tank.  There were a few times where it look like he out ran his legs.  But he played through contact, and created a few scoring opportunities.  Gabriel Massingale… this was the second cap of the season for G.  He played bigger than his stature yesterday against a large back line.  He went up strong to win the ball and was fouled a couple of times.  His touch was great receiving the ball from the midfield.  Henry Jamison- new to the sport of soccer, but he is definitely soccer fast.  He was thrown into the middle of the field and didn’t back down against the more experienced players.  He was willing to listen to others and gave it his all.  Nick Rogers… That dude plays fast.  We loved his effort to run down the balls played into the corner.  He did a great job playing through contact and trying to win the ball.

Overall, the boys played well.  We look forward to more victories throughout the season.
