Lady Patriots sweep all 9 courts today!

What a fantastic day for our lady Patriot’s tennis team!  It is a first for our history books, sweeping Hickory Christian Knights 9-0.

Singles started us off, Allison Lehman winning her court 8-1 to Lilly Oetting.  Allison stayed focused and determined while moving her opponent around the court today.  Singles 2, Alyssa Horne managed an 8-2 victory over Sarah Puryear.  Alyssa attributes her win to her fabulous new shoes, but in actuality I believe it was her superior tennis skills.  SIngles 3, Sully Young swept her opponent right off the court with an 8-0 win.  Sully moved Amelia Chapman around the court, remained focused and secured a victory with out water.  Singles 4, Grace Meister played against Perry Pate securing an 8-0 victory for the team.  While Grace knew she had to stay consistent, she bested her opponent by remembering to "just get the ball over the net.” Singles 5, Lauren Meister challenged her opponent Mackenzie Sigmon.  Lauren placed the ball well and put away many volleys, final score 8-1. Singles 6, Ellie Kollme played very well against Anna Debries.  Ellie had a personal victory of only losing 3 points the entire set.  That is some accomplishment for a player to achieve and speaks to her ability to not falter.  Ellie’s final score was 8-0.  Delaney Brown and Isabella Minaya successfully contributed to our day of wins while playing singles exhibition matches against the Hickory Knights, both with a final score of 8-1.  Our girls stayed in the spirit of friendly competitive tennis while interacting with their opponents.

After a brief break our Lady Patriots returned back to the courts for doubles.  Court 3 doubles led off with Grace and Ellie.  Remembering to stay focused, they returned the ball and when the opportunity arose put the ball away handily with a final score of 8-0. Court 1 doubles took to the courts next with Allison and Alyssa.  They were engaged in numerous long rallies. Allison controlled the back of the court well while Alyssa moved aggressively at the net, putting away many volleys to successfully win 8-2. Court 2 doubles, Ashelynne and Sully found the importance of staying engaged in a game both mentally and physically.  By remaining alert they reduced their errors thereby dominating the court, winning 8-1.

Great job girls, Coach M and Coach Rebecca
