Coaching Positions
Summary: Davidson Day School is a diverse independent school that cultivates academic excellence through collaboration, creativity, and character development. Each student is offered an active, challenging learning environment through our broad array of programs. We have approximately 525 students from 2-year-old through 12 grade and are located in Davidson, North Carolina.
We are seeking several Coaches for the 2025-26 school year. These positions are stipend positions with hours varying according to the season and report directly to the Athletic Director. Based on the available opportunities and the candidate’s interest and experience, additional employment opportunities may be also available.
The following Coaching openings are likely available:
- Boys Soccer
- Girls Soccer
- Varsity Crew
- Middle School Baseball
Essential Functions:
- Supervise and instruct student-athletes during all team activities including games, practices, team meetings, and team travel.
- Provide a clear vision and coaching philosophy that integrates the essentials of sportsmanship, competition, citizenship, and student wellness.
- Communicate regularly with team parents and athletic department staff regarding program activities.
- Oversee the related program for the School, including developmental levels.
- Mentor other program coaches, including developmental levels.
- Build positive relationships with players, faculty, administrators, parents, and other community constituents.
- Provide a safe and supportive environment for our student-athletes.
- Support the multi-sport student-athlete.
- Support the student-athlete’s academic performance as a priority.
- Attend required athletic department and school meetings.
- Comply with all policies, rules, and regulations of our athletic conferences and association, including the Foothills Athletic Conference, the Foothills Association of Middle School Athletics, and the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association.
- Comply with all rules and regulations established as school policy as detailed in the Family Handbook, the Employee Handbook, and the Coaches Handbook.
- Perform all other duties appropriate to employment as determined by the Head of School.
- Comply with all rules and regulations established as school policy.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Qualifications include:
- Prior coaching experience at the high school, AAU, or collegiate level.
- Prior head coach or program director experience preferred.
- Energetic leader with a proven track record of success.
- Passion for developing student-athletes.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability and desire to work collaboratively.
- Valid CPR, First Aid, and AED Certifications or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain upon hire is a plus.
