Middle School Patriots suffer their first lost today against the Mountain Island Raptors

Mike Newell
It was the tale of two halves yesterday as our Middle School football team owned the first half but mistakes and penalties wrecked havoc on us in the 2nd half. We started strong and kept the ball for the entire first quarter before being stopped inside the 10 yard line. Two plays later Jack Clancy stepped up and intercepted a Mountain Island Charter pass and ran it back to the 8 yard line. Two plays later Brandon Jones pounded it into the end zone for the score.
In the 2nd half the Patriots had multiple penalties and missed opportunities. MIC scored early in the 3rd quarter and made their point after attempt to take the lead. The Patriots struck back on a long run by Brandon Jones to take it to the one yard line. Two plays later Jones pounded it into the end zone to give the Patriots a 12-8 lead.
From there we had 9 penalties for more than 75 yards. MIC broke several tackles to score on a long pass to retake the lead. They went on to win 20-12.
