Davidson Day Middle School Football defeats St Mark Lions 42-20

Coach Mike Newell
Your Davidson Day Middle School Patriots football team remained undefeated yesterday beating the Saint Marks Lions 42-20 in game that was full of big hits and turnovers for the Patriots.

The defense who last week shut out Carmel Covenant had another dominant performance despite giving up a first play TD to the Lions on a long pass play. "Legion of Boom" as they have come to be known; Brandon Jones and Jack Grier each had multiple sacks in which you could hear the hits from the parking lot! Brandon Jones blocked a Lion punt deep inside their 10 yard line and Oliver Hingst scooped it up for the score. On the Lions next drive Jack Clancy picked off a pass at our 40 yard line and ran it back 60 yards for a Patriots Touchdown to seal the victory early in the 4th quarter.

The Patriots offense was once again solid from start to finish. The line of the Patriots led by Johnny Chidwick, Tyler Letarte, Ben Slay and DeAundre Stewart once again pushed the defense back and allowed Liam Groulx, Brennan Kelly and Brandon Jones room to run all over the Lions defense. Both Groulx and Jones scored Touchdowns for the Patriots. Brody Barnhardt had a fun to watch punt return where he dodged just about every player on the Lions in route to a 40 yard return.

This was a nice win to get for our boys this year. We face a very tough Mountain Island Charter this week on Wednesday so it's back to the practice fields to continue to get better!
