DDS jumped on top of Westminster Catawba 3-0 in the first inning.  On the very first pitch of the game, Jacob Nelson hit a home run to dead center field.  Jake Dyer followed the shot with a base hit.  Dyer and Joel Serepca would score later in the inning on great base running.  Ryan Restino started on the bump for the Pats and pitched three very good innings.  The score did tighten in the bottom of the third when Westminster knocked in two runs.  In the bottom of the fourth WMCS took the lead 4-3.  WMCS would score again in the bottom of the 5th.  The Patriots did battle back with a jump start single by Nate McMullen and would eventually score three runs.  Heading into the bottom of the 6th, Alex Ansted was on the mound and DDS had a 6-5 lead.  Again, WMCS battled to tie the game and make the 7th and final inning exciting.  In the top of the 7th the Patriots went 1, 2, 3 and headed back out to the field with hopes to force extra innings.  In the end, a few defensive miscues during pressure filled moments, allowed WMCS to score the winning run.  The final play of the game was contested and very close, as was this entire game.  The Patriots hit the field again on Monday as they travel to Carmel Christian.
