Our boys and girls cross country teams took advantage of a fast course and cool weather in Tuesday’s meet at Cannon. All of our DDS team members ran their fastest times of the young season over Cannon’s new course. Leading the way for the boys was 8th grader Mitchell Zammitti who finished 6th overall with an impressive debut time of 18:13. Mitchell’s effort was the 3rd fastest time in DDS boys XC history and the fastest ever for an 8th grader.
Following Mitchell were Jordan Graham (13th, 19:30), Matthew Hines (20th, 20:33), Thomas Watson (29th, 21:31), Ben Slay (41st, 23:47), and Max Carr 44th, 24:13). Our girls were paced again by sophomore, Charlotte Ratcliff with a 7thplace finish (22:03 ). Other finishers for DDS included Hailey Higbea (16th, 25:20), Caroline Dickson (22nd, 26:32), Hannah Davis (27th, 27:21), Jessie Wiles (33rd, 29:48), and Ella Tolbert (35th, 32:24).
After the Labor Day holiday, the teams return to action at the Northwest Cabarrus Cross Country Carnival on September 5th.
