Davidson Day Announces New Mission Statement & Core Values
Davidson Day School is proud to announce its new mission statement and core values.
Over the past nine months, faculty, staff, students, and trustees came together in focus groups, surveys, and listening sessions to guide this thoughtful process. The result is a mission and set of values that are data-informed, student-centered, and forward-looking. Together, the new mission statement and core values express both who Davidson Day is today and the aspirations that will carry the school into tomorrow.
“This is our shared compass for the years ahead. My hope is that you will carry this mission and these values with you—in classrooms, at home, on trips, and wherever life takes you,” Head of School Andrew Bishop said. “They are more than words; they are commitments.”
Mission Statement: Together, we empower students to embrace challenge, live with character, and lead with purpose.
Core Values:
Courage: We face challenges with integrity, speak up for what is right, and step boldly into new experiences.
Ownership: We take responsibility for our learning, our actions, and the impact we have on our community.
Resilience: We persevere through adversity with resourcefulness, learning from setbacks to grow stronger.
Empathy: We seek to understand others with compassion and commit ourselves to acts of kindness and service.
These guiding principles will be woven into every part of school life—from classroom discussions and curriculum to school spirit wear and campus art—ensuring that Davidson Day’s mission and core values are not just words on paper, but living commitments in action.
