The Varsity Girls Lacrosse Head Coach supports the mission, values, and athletic philosophy of Davidson Day School by providing positive leadership, skill instruction, and team development for student-athletes. The Coach fosters a safe and inclusive environment aligned with NCISAA and school policies while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth.
This is a stipend position for our Spring 2026 season. You will work alongside the current Head Coach and will assume full Head Coach responsibilities during her scheduled leave.
Essential Functions
Coaching & Player Development
Plan and lead practices that develop fundamental and advanced lacrosse skills, conditioning, and game strategy
Promote a positive team culture grounded in respect, resilience, sportsmanship, and healthy competition
Supervise student-athletes on the field, during games, while traveling, and in all team-related activities
Implement proper injury prevention techniques and follow athletic trainer recommendations
Report any injuries, incidents, or safety concerns promptly according to school protocol
Comply with all school and NCISAA policies, rules, and regulations
Communication & Professionalism
Communicate proactively with athletes, families, athletics staff, and school administrators
Model professionalism, integrity, and alignment with the school’s mission and core values
Attend required coaches’ meetings, training sessions, and professional development as needed
Required Qualifications
Prior playing or coaching experience in lacrosse (high school, club, or collegiate level)
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with student-athletes in grades 7–12
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Energetic leader with a proven track record of success
Valid CPR, First Aid, and AED Certifications or ability to obtain upon hire
Preferred:
Prior head coach or program director experience
