Our school’s commitment to Performing Arts is robust and comes alive in the classroom as well as on stage in Gordon Theater.
In all grade levels, students enjoy opportunities to perform in class productions and school special events. Students in Kindergarten through 6th grade also have the opportunity to participate in an afterschool enrichment activity called Musical Theater Club. Here, participants learn to sing, dance, and act in preparation for musical productions geared toward the younger age set. Middle school students (5th - 8th grade) take theater as a regular elective course, and from 6th grade through seniors, many young thespians look forward to auditioning for the fall play and spring musical.
In upper school, Performing Arts courses marry technique and continued development of fundamental skills with an intense exploration of creative expression as it relates to the human experience. Most of the courses have a required performance component associated with it, and many rehearsals and performances are scheduled beyond the scope of the academic day.
From Musical Theater Club to Shakespeare to improv, students of all ages love to explore their inner spirit and share their creativity with their friends and families and the Davidson Day community.
