Slow start, but strong finish

Chris Graham
Two hr road trips to Asheville can be hard to manage, particulary late in the week on Friday. JV boys traveled to Asheville, to play Asheville School for a 4pm tip off. Boys ate well on the bus thanks to Mrs. Henegars purschase of Subway. With all that food in their tummy, and two hr bus, the boys took that time to catch up on some sleep. And it showed in the first quarter. The score after 1 period, DDS 8 Asheville school 6.

Fresh legs and sharp shooting by Cole Calloway (who scored 14 pts in that quarter) allowed the Patriots to create some breathing room. Patriots continued to lock in on the defensive end of the court by holding Asheville school to 5 points in the second quarter and pitching a shut out in the 3rd quarter. Patriots go on to win 53 -20. Last night, DDS was lead by Cole Calloway with 19. It was another night where 8 of 9 players found their way into scorebook. Our team continues to share the ball on the offensive end of the court.

The best stat of the night for me, was that no player on Asheville's roster scored more than 4 pts. I thought our guys took a great deal a pride in doing his job at shutting down his opponent. As a team, this was a really solid effort. Guys are competing, and the excution is starting to come around.

Next up, JV boys play tonight Jan. 28th at home vs. Hickory Christian with a 4:30pm start time.
