Mini-Term Concludes in Successful Invention Convention

Last week, 5th and 6th grade students and teachers stepped away from standard academic curriculum and were immersed in mini-term - a weeklong program designed to inspire creativity and collaboration.

This year’s theme was ‘Make it Better’, and students were tasked with inventing a new product that solved a common problem. They worked in pairs to identify the problem, brainstorm possible solutions, design a prototype, build a model, evaluate/redesign, and finally, share their invention. Teachers helped to facilitate this process, working as Creative Coaches to encourage the students through the design process. The week culminated in an Invention Convention where the students’ submissions were judged based on several criteria.
