Students attend International Archaeology Conference in Calgary

Nine 11th and 12th grade students traveled to Alberta, Canada last week to participate in the 51st Annual University of Calgary Chacmool Archaeology Conference.

The students were given a private tour of the university's Anthropology and Archaeology department by department chair, Dr. Geoffrey McCafferty, Dr. Meaghan Peuramaki-Brown, and graduate student Matthew Longstaff. The students presented three posters at the conference's poster session and participated in a session entitled Chacmool as Community. Mat Saunders also delivered a lecture entitled Teens in the Trenches: Archaeological Initiatives for Pre-collegiate Students.

In addition to the conference, the team of AFAR students traveled to Banff for some hiking and skiing.
