Ellie Kollme, '22, Named Finalist for New York Times Photography Contest

Ellie Kollme, ‘22 has been selected as a finalist for the New York Times photography contest ‘My Generation.’

Ellie's work will be published online during the week of October 29, 2018 on The New York Times Learning Network.  If selected, it may also be published in the Nov. 4th print edition of the New York Times in a special Learning section. In addition to Kollme's reaching the finalist round, Kaley Dawson, ’21, and Logan Zucker, ’22, made it to the final round of judging.

All of Mrs. Woods’ photography students entered the competition, which included submitting one to three photographs and a 350-word essay about their generation. The New York Times invited teenagers, 13 to 19 years old, from anywhere in the world to take photographs that show some aspect of teenage life that they think may be misunderstood, ignored or largely unknown, and, in a short artist’s statement, explain why.

They received 2,200 entries. Ellie’s photographs and essay are about her summers at Camp Illahee, an all-girls summer camp in Brevard, North Carolina.
