Middle School Long-Term Spanish Substitute


Davidson Day School is a diverse independent school that cultivates academic excellence through collaboration, creativity, and character development.  
Each student is offered an active, challenging learning environment through our broad array of programs. We have approximately 530 students from 2-year-old through 12th grade and are located in Davidson, North Carolina.

We are seeking a long-term maternity Middle School Spanish substitute to join our Middle School team starting mid-January 2019. This position will report directly to the Head of the Middle School. The daily rate for a long-term substitute is $150 per day.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement an engaging Spanish program for students in grades 6-8.
  • Cultivate an appreciation for Spanish-speaking cultures.
  • Develop language skills through reading, writing, speaking, and listening using experiential lessons and projects.
  • Use technology resources to enhance the learning experience for students.
  • Serve as a student advisor and share supervisory duties with other Middle School teachers.
  • Collaborate with a Middle School teaching team to incorporate cross-curricular learning experiences.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or language instruction required.
  • Fluency in Spanish required.
  • Prior experience teaching middle school students preferred.
  • Passion for working with middle school students.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and desire to work collaboratively.
  • Vision for growth.
  • Flexibility and a good sense of humor.
