Davidson Day School is excited partner with Cannon School to host the Second Annual Lake Norman Area College Admissions Case Studies Program and College Fair on Sunday, April 26th, 2026, at Cannon School.

Time: Case studies begin promptly at 1 p.m., and the college fair will be held from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m.

College applications can often feel like a mystery, but case studies provide an inside look at the process. This is an interactive and eye-opening event designed for juniors, sophomores, and their families. This program offers a unique opportunity to step into the shoes of an admissions officer and gain valuable insight into how college decisions are made. By reviewing real applications alongside admissions officers from top universities, you will see firsthand how different factors, including grades, essays, and extracurricular activities, come together in the decision-making process. This is a rare opportunity to think like an admissions officer and gain valuable insight into what makes an application stand out.
Following the case studies, students can explore the college fair with representatives from over 80 universities and colleges!

Below, you will find the resources that will be used for the case studies. Feel free to review the files prior to attendance, but there will be time to review the materials during the session.
We will not provide paper copies of the resources. Please print out the materials or bring a device on which you can access the files. Parents and students will be split into different groups, so each individual will need their own means to access the materials.
The files below include the entire applications of three college applicants. Review each application, and note how each applicant may be fit for the fictional institution, Euphoria University.
