Davidson Day provides extensive opportunities for children to explore their creative nature. Over the past decade, I have seen countless students grow and develop their artistic passion with encouragement and guidance from my colleagues here at Davidson Day. I have also witnessed many individuals discovering an interest or ability in the arts that they have not expected to find.
Beginning with early childhood, children are encouraged to explore their creativity through a variety of mediums. Elementary classes work with specialists in music, theater, and visual arts. Middle school students take on more sophisticated studio challenges in the visual arts. They are also afforded additional opportunities to mature as actors, singers and musicians, including curricular and extracurricular performance venues. The upper school offers a broad variety of fine arts electives allowing students choose a particular focus, or continue to explore a variety of mediums.
In my career, I have never been as fortunate as I am now, to be working with such a talented fine arts faculty. My colleagues are accomplished arts professionals as well as seasoned and dedicated educators. They are exceptional art mentors, and they are enthusiastic ambassadors for the fine arts. Inspiring new generations of artists and patrons so that the arts will continue to flourish in our communities.
