Third Grade Students Collect Over 5,000 Items During Annual Holiday Food Drive

Davidson Day's 3rd graders delivered over 5,000 cans of food and much-needed grocery and personal hygiene items to The Ada Jenkins Center Friday, ending a three-week long food drive to help stock the center’s Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry. The students significantly exceeded their 3,000 can goal and delivered the most successful Davidson Day food drive to date, just in time for the holiday season.

Third grade students, teachers, and parents filled several truckloads of donated items over the course of the food drive, with the largest delivery occuring on Friday. Students were on hand to sort items and restock the shelves. In addition, 3rd graders toured the facility and witnessed first-hand how their efforts helped others in our community.

The Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry serves residents of Davidson, Huntersville, Cornelius and south Iredell by providing groceries to those in crisis and those who find themselves in need of additional help during lean times. The 3rd graders were especially proud to help their community neighbors leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday.
