EARLY CHILDHOOD ASSISTANT

Applicants should have a degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent, have experience working with young children, and a desire to grow and learn.

The position requires candidates to:

  • Create a classroom environment that is nurturing, engaging and developmentally appropriate to the needs of the whole child. 
  • Enhance and implement an experiential classroom curriculum that encourages curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving appropriate to the developmental level.  
  • Support the social and emotional development of children. 
  • Construct and inform student assessments and participate in parent conferences.
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with faculty, staff, students and parents.

FACILITIES/CAFETERIA WORKER

EXTENDED CARE / BEFORE- AND AFTER-SCHOOL

Davidson Day School, an Independent School in Davidson, NC, seeks Extended Care personnel for our Before- and After-School Care Program.

Extended Care personnel are responsible for: 

  • Creating and maintaining a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment that fosters a sense of belonging;
  • Leading creative, entertaining activities;
  • Supporting students in making positive behavioral choices and taking disciplinary measures when appropriate; and,
  • Maintaining student sign-in/sign-out records for students and parents.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A passion for working with Early Childhood- to Middle School-aged students and their parents;
  • At least six months of experience working with a group of 10 or more students in a classroom, after-school, or recreational environment; and,
  • Strong interpersonal skills, the ability and desire to work collaboratively, and a good sense of humor.

Program hours are Monday‒Friday from 2:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., through the end of May 2013, consistent with the Davidson Day School calendar.

Position becomes available November 12, 2012—hourly compensation commensurate with experience.
